Solar Installations

The Planning

Your Solar installation involves meticulous planning to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. Firstly, a thorough site assessment is conducted to evaluate factors such as sunlight exposure, shading, roof orientation, and structural integrity. This assessment informs the design of the solar array, determining the placement and tilt angle of panels for maximum sunlight absorption throughout the day. Additionally, local regulations and building codes are carefully reviewed to ensure compliance and obtain necessary permits.

Once the design is finalized, the Solar installation team coordinates logistics such as equipment procurement, scheduling, and manpower allocation. During installation, precise measurements and alignment are crucial to ensure proper mounting and wiring of panels. Quality control checks are conducted throughout the process to verify that each component meets industry standards and manufacturer specifications.

The Testing

Finally, comprehensive testing and commissioning procedures are carried out to confirm the functionality and safety of the solar installation before it is connected to the grid or utilized for off-grid applications. This lengthy planning and execution are essential to deliver a reliable and high-performing solar installation that meets the needs and expectations of the customer while maximizing the benefits of clean energy generation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Solar PV can benefit homeowners in many ways, below are just some of the benefits you as a homeowner can receive from a PV Install.

  • Available for Grants of up to  €2,000.

If your home was built before the year 2021 you may be available for a SEAI grant of up to €2,000.

  • Increase the energy rating of your property.
  • Save your money from the high cost of electricity bills.
  • Produces hot water for your home.
  • Solar PV can supply up to 70% of your energy needs.
  • Solar PV will reduce your carbon footprint

This size of your PV system depends on a handful of things

  • How much electricity is used in the household.
  • The usual time of day you’re at home.
  • Orientation of your roof.

Chances are your home has a south facing roof, or a roof that is close to south facing – either way it is known that around 95% of homes do have a south facing roof, we need a south facing roof as the sun at midday is in the south.

To figure out if your roof faces south all you need to do is check on google maps, or a compass, or like stated previously you can check at midday where the sun is and see if one of your roofs line up with it However, on the off chance that you do not have a south facing roof , PV Panels can be installed on the ground on brackets off the ground.

Yes, a grid connection is still needed as the PV system works off day light. If you have a rainy day, then you will still need electricity.

Not only will Solar PV save you money with your bills, it will in theory pay for itself over time. If you have unused units of power, selling these back to the grid will add up, and that money being put back into your pocket on top of the SEAI grant of €2,000 makes solar PV a no-brainer for anybody who wants to save a penny in a long-term style.

Not at all, with electric Ireland offering support for the application, grants have never been easier!

Microgeneration is generating electricity at a micro scale, it’s also the system for home owners to produce their own renewable power and it entails any renewable energy product that produces electricity like Solar PV.

When a Microgenerator is coupled with a Diverter, PV will also be able to heat your hot water for you, saving you money on gas bills.

Upon installation, we will file a NC6 form with ESB on your behalf, at that point we will install the smart meter too, and if for whatever reason we do not, ESB will install it for you at another date.

Selling electricity back to the grid is possible  with the Government Microgeneration Support scheme.

What this entails is that if you have a Microgeneration device installed in / on your home

Makes you eligible to sell the excess produced electricity back to Ireland’s electricity grid.

A simple way to look at the concept of microgeneration is to think of the electricity your home needs as a glass, once that glass is full, the excess electricity will automatically spill back into the grid’s supply. This is all monitored by a smart meter that will be installed in your home and you will be automatically reimbursed for the electricity given to the grid.

Credit will be applied on each bill reflecting your microgeneration export in that period, saving you money on your bills monthly.

It is worth noting that the Microgeneration scheme is in place for Electric Ireland customers, if you are not one you will not be eligible for the grant.
